Snow!!!!

What fun it is to receive snow in Texas! It was so fun to come out of the school this morning to see big snowflakes! When we went it was sleeting. Changed so fast! Been snowing off and on all day. I brought the kids home early from school and the neighborhood has seen many a snowman and snowball since. They are all loving it! I may have extra laundry to do tonight but the look on the sweet faces around the neighborhood are worth it. The best part is that my classes are canceled tonight! Not that I was going to venture out anyway, but at least I'm not going to be docked for attendance or assignments now.

8 a.m. Big snowflakes! Felt like I was back in Colorado.

11 a.m. Very cool!

This is what happens when you try to catch a long pass in a yard that is littered with trees. The trees will generally win the battle. :) Not to worry, the boy survived with only a few scars.

This is Bekah's homemade stethescope. I think this was right after we took her in for a bladder infection. What an inventive child!

Sad with Hope

Yesterday a friend of ours passed away. While we had not seen Alton in quite some time, we will miss him. He was one of those big, tough, burly, teddy bear guys. His wife, a dear friend of mine, plays the piano at our church. Every Sunday she picks up her three grandsons and brings them with her. With our church being so small, we are really quite a close family. It's always so hard when someone leaves the family...for any reason. We are sad.

Our hope comes in the knowledge that Alton is now with Jesus. While that information may not be as comforting for Vicki and their children right now, it still gives hope. Hope that one day they will see him again and hope that one day, we will be with Jesus as well. None of the disheartening aspects of this world can compare to the hope we have in Jesus!

So, until it is our turn to see Jesus, we will remember Alton with love and live this life with the love and fervor that comes from knowing our Lord and Savior.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. (somewhere in Psalms) God is so good!
